The Price of Royal Duty Free read ¼ 108 The Price of Royal DutyThe first in The Santina Crown series and I have to be honest as say that I didn't like it as much as I hoped I wouldPenny Jordan is one of the best Harleuin Mills Boon writers ever and I think her writing is fantastic This book isn't badly written but I just felt that it is overdone and with a little too much purple proseActions and events in this book are so drawn out and over descriptive that I'd forgotten what was actually going on in certain scenes by the end It got a little tedious to read to be honestI have a real lack of affection for heroes that don't believe anything a heroine says or presumes something about the heroine and cannot be changed in his thinking by anything to me this is incredibly frustrating

The Price of Royal Duty Free read ¼ 108 The Price of Royal DutyPenny Jordan wrote 187 books for Mills and Boon and after reading a lot of them my overall view is that she should just avoid writing about royal families She writes a lovely book about normal down to earth heroines but when she becomes embroiled in the politics of royal families It just no longer works somehowThis is basically a rewrite of an earlier novel of hers Bride for His Majesty's Pleasure which was dire I hasten to add but The Price of Royal Duty is a better reworking of this The book itself actually has uite a strong start with royal Santina Princess Sophia hitching a ride on the Maharaja of Nailpur's is that in Manchester private jet unbeknownst to him She's on the run from an arranged marriage which he has already refused once to help her get out of despite the tried and tested trick of oh dear my ballgown's fallen off can you shield me in your

The Price of Royal Duty Free read ¼ 108 The Price of Royal DutyThis was a very nice story about a love that little by little came to be Even against their own wishesAshok is a maharaja and takes his duty very seriously But he can't forgive the few mistakes he thinks he has to make amends for even if they weren't his So now he keeps all his feelings locked tightly away Sophia lives a life os scandal but that's her way of hiding in plain sight Sophia is trying to run away from an unwanted arranged marriage she thinks her one slavation is Ashok but he doesn't want anything to do with her and her scandals Finding no other way to escape she stows away on Ashok's private jet She plans to then escape to London after their arrival at his destination But the press found out about where she was and her family demands he marry her Now married by duty they

The Price of Royal Duty Free read ¼ 108 The Price of Royal DutyI don't know if it was just me but some way along the line I just got really frustrated with this whole story The beginning alone had me rethinking if I should really continue Like when the heroine hatched her plan and tried to get the hero to go along with it The writer took us all around the world and back before we got to the half concocted plan that she wanted to execute By this time I was sorely annoyed because I couldn't believe we had to go through all of that just to get to the simplest explanation of a plan to begin withThen it was the sentences with uestion marks that really didn't seem like uestions or were even conveyed in that way and made it remarkably hard for to not become uninterested in continuingThere was way too much detailing in some scenes that by the time they were finished being described you forgot what it was connected and what image or feeling exactly it was trying to conveyAll in all I can honestly say I finishe

The Price of Royal Duty Free read ¼ 108 The Price of Royal DutyHaving read the rest of this series I thought I should catch up on the missing episode Considering who the author is I was expecting something outstanding but sadly it was just okay Sophia and Ash both had a history but it took her escaping from her father’s determination to marry her off to a Spanish prince by hiding on board Ash’s plane thereby starting a scandal which could only be rectified by marriage to bring them together Of course we then had to be with them working their way to a happy ever after The story had some really good bits in it and I did enjoy it Somehow I was just expecting Happily recommend it as the start to the Santina series

The Price of Royal Duty Free read ¼ 108 The Price of Royal DutyToo much telling versus showing and a higher than normal dose of inner monologues decreased my reading pleasure I also felt the lead characters seemed underdeveloped and the plot lacked depth Since this was likely written while the author was sick it's understandable that she couldn't conjure the magic or possibly Harleuin just hired a ghost writer In either case this book lacked Penny Jordan's usual emotional intensity
